Our Story

We first registered our Prefix ‘Zeracious’ in 1992 in South Africa, our birth country. Since the Zeracious Prefix has been registered in 3 additional countries; South Africa, USA (2009) and Australia (2009). We grew up with all sorts of animals, like most families do in Africa and a connection with them.

Griet’s first interaction with Staffords was around 1975, when her Dad purchased two cross-bred dogs. One even had a Ridgeback ridge on its back (LOL). Griet fell in love with their personalities, loyalty and tenacity. This allowed Griet to recognise what represented a good quality specimen versus an average one. Griet met Frans, got married and their first pet was a pure-bred Staffordshire Bull Terrier which encouraged them to start showing as a hobby.

The rest is history!

All pups bred by us have ‘Zeracious’ in their names. The word “Zeracious” is a combination of 'Tenacious' (a character trait of our breed) and also partly made-up from ‘coetZERand ‘franCOIS’.

Critique by Janet Wall:
1st Number 23, well this dog was outstanding boy, a deep red with a distinct stop, short for face and a black nose. Neck was rather short and a nice lay of shoulder. His top line was great and he held it on the moved. Moved parallel when viewed form front and behind. Correct bite with a perfect regular and complete scissor bite. Nothing exaggerated well balanced and was handled to perfection. In great condition and a pleasure to have had the opportunity to have my hands on this boy. My Challenge Dog and Best in Show.
Awarded the 3 point ROM.
